Satyendar Jain Gets Bail in Delhi Jal Board STP Tender Irregularities Case

Jain was physically produced before Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh. His counsel, senior advocate N Hariharan, argued that the tenders were floated in October 2022, when Jain was already in custody in another case, and that there was no evidence linking him to the tender process.

Hariharan further argued that the investigation had already collected all the evidence and that Jain’s continued custody was not required.

The ACB has alleged that the technical proposal for augmenting the Rohini STP was altered and that its capacity was increased from 15 MGD to 30 MGD without a technical recommendation or feasibility study.

The agency further alleged that the inclusion of the Rohini and Narela STPs and the exclusion of Okhla Phase-V resulted in an estimated cost escalation of around Rs 123 crore.

According to the ACB, a 2% commission deal was struck during meetings in December 2022. It also alleged that intermediary Nagendra Yadav facilitated communication between Delhi Jal Board officials and representatives of Euroteck.

The ACB further alleged that mandatory CPCB environmental parameters were diluted in the tender documents, allegedly giving undue advantage to the technology provider.

While Jain was granted bail, the court extended the judicial custody of the other accused until September 17, keeping the proceedings in the alleged Delhi Jal Board STP tender irregularities case ongoing.
